" Saturday Wind SE a stif Breeze and cloudy with Thunder and rain in the evening. at 5 AM Embarked and left York Factory with 4 large canoes and 12 men. also sent one canoe away with Mr Tomison with a cargo of goods for swan River and is to land it in the Big lake Wennipago and so return to york Factory with Furrs of Mr Tomison. at 6 PM put up."

Dear Sir
I have heard by the Natives and canadians of your arrival with 3 Battoes and two canoes above the Pine fort in red river. by the great distance from me prevents me from comming to you - I am about 40 miles above Mr Grants House this season by carrying good acrofs land - from swan River - which I have traded the most part already - I should be much obliged to you to send me a thorough discription of this river - and what distance it is from the mouth to that part of the Lake you Pafs - or whither it is pofsible for my canoes to come that way - I have also heard of a disagreable dispoot between you and some Indians on your Pafsage - Which I would save a few goods in order to make all Parties agreable when you return. I hope you will excuse this hint from me on account of my knowing the Disposition of different Indians for many years Experience - I should be glade if you would send this account as soons as pofsible.
Aand if you can spair a few goods such as Blankets Hatchets and cloth at the same time if convenient and the returns you will get in the spring - I conclude wishing you a good season - and succefs to the Companys affairs.
