" Thursday at 6 PM the Captain and Mr Atkinson took their leaves of us and went down in our Longboat for the Ship."
Sept. 23
" Friday Wind SW rain forepart latter part fine weather. the Moose Sloop, Shallop, and Longboat came up having seen the Ship safe out. the people with Mr Turnor stowing away and covering the Canoes. Lieutenant Moosuminan and Pisagon came in with a few Furrs."
Sept. 24
" Saturday Wind Southerly rain at times warm weather . all the Hunting Indians took powder and shot and went to the Marsh. Moosuminan and Brother went away, as also the uplanders of the 18th Instant. the people piling wood, grinding Oatmeal &c. packed Goods for Brunswick, Abbitibi and EM. received geese from Indians."

" Monday Wind Northerly Cloudy weather the people variously employed. PM dispatched Mr Philip Turnor, George Beckwith, William Johnson and two Indians with their wives in two Canoes for Abbitibi."

" Tuesday Wind and Weather as yesterday. Mr Cloney with 4 hands in the Jolly boat fetched Geese from the Indians at the East bluff. Cooper preparing Goose Casks for Hannah Bay. Shipwright at work for the new shallop, 7 Men preparing for Brunswick. two Cooks. two lame. Armourer repairing Indian Guns. the rest variously employed."

" Wednesday Wind variable rainy Weather. Mr Cloney and 4 hands went in a Boat to fetch Geese from the Whayway Creeks. the rest nearly as yesterday. received Geese and fish from Indians. Brewed small Beer."
Sept. 29
" Thursday Wind variable Easterly fine weather at 9 PM dispatched Mr Maujenest, Andrew Linklater, Thomas Flatt, Richard Small, James Robinson, Nicholas Robinson, John Slater and Alexander Slater in the King George Batteau for Brunswick House. Linklater Carpenter is to stay instead of Hugh Stocking? who is to return. At the same time sent Anthony King and two Men in the Jollyboat to afsist them part of the way. The Beaver Sloop came in last night and about 10 AM She arrived at the point. the people employed unballasting her and putting the East Main Cargo on Board."

" Friday Wind Easterly fresh breeze fine weather. Mr Cloney and 4 Men fetched Geese from the Whayway Creeks, the rest employed putting the East Main Cargo on Board the Beaver Sloop. one lame."

" Saturday Wind NE fine weather a sharp frost last night. the two Shipwrights stocking an Anchor for the Beaver Sloop the Armourer making Iron work for ditto. all the rest putting the remainder of the East Main Cargo aboard her. PM gave Mr Brand his dispatches and he got under way but presently after brought up again. Received Fish from Indians. one lame."

" Sunday Wind NE fine weather Contrary winds prevents the Beaver proceeding on her Voyage and she has got no further than lower Ship hole in three tides. Mr Bolland with 4 hands in the sloops Boat carried them some more provisions - Anthony King and the two Men returned with the afsisting Boat from Mr Maujenest having left them in a fair way (and the water rising) on the journey. one lame."

" Monday Wind light airs NE fine weather. dispatched Anthony King and 4 Men in the Longboat with supplies for the Goose hunt at Hannah Bay (George Donald having sent a Letter to acquaint me that the 12 Hogsheads I sent are all full and his powder Shot &c near expended) and Mr Cloney and one Man to stay at the Whayway Creeks to serve out the powder Shot &c I have now sent down by 4 Men in the Batteau and to receive and salt the Geese as the Indians lose much time in coming backwards and forwards to the Factory. PM William Bolland (whom I have kept till I dispatched the Beaver Sloop and supplies to the Goose tents) proceeded in a Canoe after the Batteau for Brunswick House. all the people at home afsisting in dispatching the Boats. Salted 2 Casks of Geese. one Man lame."

" Tuesday Wind SW fine weather Shipwright and one Man preparing for going to work on the Moose Sloop. Armourer mending Indians Guns. the Cooper and the rest proping up the Floor of the lower guard room. Cleaning the cellars and Warehouse. stowing Casks away &c &c PM two of the Men came home from Mr Cloney to acquaint me that they had carried to Batteau so far up the Creek with a high tide that they could not now get it down. sent them away with a Note to Mr Cloney to advise him how to act and to request that he'd send the Men back as soon as pofsible."

" Wednesday Wind Northerly Cloudy cool weather the Shipwright and Mate began breaking up the decayed parts of the Moose Sloop. the Armourer and one Man at the forge mending Iron Crows and making cold chizzels for the Shipwright. one cook the rest clearing the Flankers and stowing away the Flour &c &c. the people returned with the Batteau from the Whayway creeks. one lame."

Bricklayer and one Man mending the ovens - six at Abbitibi three on the Journey there. four at Brunswick House and 9 one the Journey there. 5 gone to Hannah Bay in the Longboat. one at the Goose Tent there and two at the Whayway Creek Goose Tent. Received Geese from the Marsh."

" Tuesday Wind Southerly fine weather Shipwright and Mate Cooper and Armourer as yesterday. John Linklater and one Man to afsist him finishing the roof of the Sloops Store shed. Cook and lame as before. Thomas Knarston with the rest fitting up hog sties and Cattle Stalls."

" Wednesday Wind southerly Cloudy weather very loud thunder and quick lightening with a dash of rain in the forenoon. the people employed as before. PM Anthony King and two of the Longboats crew returned from Hannah Bay to acquaint me that a heavy gale of wind had (in spite of their endeavours to prevent it) drove the Longboat so high aground a little within the mouth of the Hanicanaw River that all attempts for getting her off proved fruitlefs and that all the Casks they carried down are filled with Geese, and Mr George Donald greatly at a lofs for Casks for the Geese, which the Indians are bringing in, in great quantities - to remedy the above unlucky circumstance Anthony King advises my sending the shallop as there is already more casks Salted than the Longboat when they get her off can bring at one trip and the season grows too late for making another voyage - in the evening the people were all employed getting things in readinefs for dispatching the Shallop to morrow morning (if winds are favourable)."

" Thursday Wind Westerly a fresh breeze fair weather early this morning dispatched Anthony King and 4 Men in the Shallop for Hannah Bay to carry Casks and other requisites for the hunt there and (together with the Longboat) to bring home the Geese &c &c received there. Shipwright and Mate at work on the Sloop. Armourer and one Man at forge work for ditto. Cooper making sash frames for Windows. Taylor making Trading Coats one lame. Cook as usual. the others clearing a little of the Willows off the plantation."

" Friday Wind Southerly fair weather Tradesmen at their several employs as yesterday. Cook as usual. one lame. the others (two Men) went down in the Jolly boat with Mr Cloney to Whayway Creeks to carry more Casks and Salt as those he hath at his Tent are almost all full he therefore took the opportunity of an old Canoe left at his tent to come and acquaint me therewith this morning."

" Saturday Wind Southerly Westerly and NW blows fresh the two Men returned late last night from the Wayway Creeks the people employed as on Thursday except the Shipwright who has unluckily cut himself with his adze so as to render him incapable of duty. this will I fear prevent his finishing the repairs of the upper works of one side of the Sloop which had not this accident happened he expected to have compleated before the severity came on."

" Wednesday Wind E dark heavy weather much Thunder and Rain. went with 4 hands in the Jolly boat to fetch Geese from the East Marsh. Anthony King and all the rest unloading the Vefsels."

" Thursday Wind NW frosty Weather eight hands with Anthony King fixing posts and Anchors &c for fastening the Sloop and Shallop and making other preparations for laying the vefsels up. Cooper salting 3 Casks of Geese. Armourer mending Guns &c. Taylor making Trading Coats Shipwright and one labourer lame. one Cook. PM sent five hands with two Batteaux to the Whayway Creeks to fetch Mr Cloney and all the things from the Goose Tent there. the Indians on that side having left off hunting. Received Geese from Indians."

Taylor making trading Coats. one cook. two lame. the others with Anthony King taking Boats and Moorings ashore, putting a few stones into the Shallop and dropping the Sloop opposite to her winter quarters."

" Monday Wind NNW cold weather St George happening on Sunday we kept it this day, and exercised the people with Small arms - in the morning we removed the Sloops Shore booms and got the Sloop and Shallop secured and in the afternoon we hauled the Boats out of the way of the Ice and secured them and got the powder out of the Magazine in case the water should be so high as to over flow the Factory. Mr Cloney, George Donald and two Men set off for the Westward and Whayway Creek Goose Tents, but the water kept rising so fast that they were obliged to return as did also an Indian woman who came from the Eastward this morning with 5 Geese and 7 Ducks. About 7 AM observed the river broke up at the South bluff and before Noon the Ice had hove it self up a Tremendous height in several places and got so far down as the head of Hazy's Island."

" Tuesday Wind light airs Southerly till about 9 AM when a fresh breeze from NE sprung up. about 1 1/2 AM the Ice broke up opposite to the Factory, and continued in motion at intervals all day, the water about Noon rose within 15 feet of the outer gateway, and lifted all our platforms; the height of the Ice up the River exceeded anything I have ever before seen at the breaking of the river, and a little more water would I dare say have brought it over the bank; as several pieces were lodged fairly on it opposite the Factory. All hands attending the Vefsels and securing things in case the water Should come over the plantation. in the evening the broken Ice got down as far as middleborough. the water fell off fast, and the river was totally clear of Ice in the South Channel."

People variously employed endeavouring to get the Beaver Sloop over the Barrs, cleaning the yards, making hay &c &c. Received Fish from Indians."

" Friday Wind SW fine weather got the Beaver Sloop off and She proceeded down to the Ship - sent an Indian and an englishman with your Honors General pacquet to Albany as also two Indians with the pacquet to Brunswick. all hands stacking hay except the sea Horse's Shipwright and Andrew Linklater who was making a Mast for their Longboat. late PM received Letters from Albany and York Factory. Received Geese and Fish from Indians."

" Saturday Wind NE cloudy cool weather with rain in the forenoon. the people employed shoreing up the floors of the Warehouse and North Flankers as the joist girders and foundation is entirely rotten, and getting the earth out of the cellars and enlarging them, baleing and cleaning the Boats ready for unloading the Shallop &c about 1/2 past 7 PM the Ship Prince Rupert anchored in Ship hole and the Sloop came up to the point with cargo and pafsengers, all hands employed unloading the Sloop. PM Captain Tunstal returned in the Ships Longboat to the Ship - Received Rabbits and Fish from Indians."

PM getting the Moose Sloop's Cargo ashore which came in and Anchored at the point. about 10 AM Mr Brand and Donald came ashore - the two Longboats and Shallop came up - the Shallop proceeded down to the Ship with more of the homeward bound Cargo. Received Geese and Ducks from Indians."

" Sunday Wind Easterly fine Weather. in the evening the Captain and Chief Mate came up in the Rupert Longboat - Sent the yards that were made for the Sea Horse aboard the Sloop Moose. dispatched the East Main Indians and House Carpenter for that place. Received Ducks Geese Fish and Rabbits from Indians."

" Monday Variable Wind pleasant Weather the people variously employed finished the hay stack and brewing Small beer. AM the Chief Mate returned with the following pafsengers in the Ships Longboat Viz. Mathew Tait, Robert Yorston, John Laughton, Hugh Stocking, William Wase, Richard Small, James Gibson, David Flett, Robert Chapple, and William Carr Shipwright, also William Flett and James Groundwater whom returns to Europe on account of their Ill health. PM the Moose Sloop got under way and proceeded for the Ship. late in the evening the Ships Jolly boat came up with Nicholas Spence and Andrew Beckie whom returned from Albany."
