Sept. 11 1782
" Wednesday a fresh gale in the SW Quarter Weather Clear and Cloudy. about 2 PM having Clos'd the Packet Mefs Hutchins & Richards went on board the Sloop but blow'd so exceeding hard She could not get under way. soon after Receiv'd a Packet from Moose Fort requesting Twine. sent the two Packet men and 200 Skains on board immediately. Traded some Fish and Geese Capt. Afsup and Young men came in for Debt."

Sept. 12
" Thursday Wind NW Weather fine. Sent 12 men to Raft home Firewood. 5 men Afsisting in Packing up Goods for Glou. the rest variously Employ'd. Trusted part of the Indians of Yesterday. Traded Fish Geese and Shoe Leather. two of the home Indians Died this Day. several others much Afflicted with a Consumption. many of the Englishmen are also Ailing."

Sept. 13
" Friday a fresh gale at SW with Rain most of th Day. the People partly as yesterday. Traded 2 white Whale, some Fish & Geese."

Sept. 14
" Saturday light Airs Var. very cold Wea. Our men return'd home with 4 Rafts of Firewood. the few at home Packing Goods for Glou. Capt. Afsup went away Traded 500 Tickomeg & 30 Geese from the Indians."

Sept. 15
" Sunday Nly Wind Wea. Clear & Cloudy a little Rain at times. Perform'd Divine Service."

Sept. 16
" Monday Eerly Winds & fine Wea. 12 men preparing to go in the Battaus to Glou. House with Goods. 2 men Packing Goods for Henley and that Place. the Shipwright and two men repairing Boats and Battaus Cook as usual the others Variously Employ'd."

Sept. 17
" Tuesday Eerly Wind cold raw Wea. Rec'd 120 Geese from Indians Traded 86 Geese & 200 Tickomeg. a 4 foot Gun. Wilfon 80. brot to the Fort by Shewawsum. blown in the middle of the Barrel about an inch long."

Sept. 18
" Wednesday Wind Werly cold Weather About 9 this morning David Saunderson, Jenkin Daniel, Wm Spence, Adam Moad, Magnus Kirknefs, Wm Laughton, Ja. Cromartie, Wm Rich, Robt. Sabiston, John Spence, John Johnson Burza, Ja Anderson set off in two Battaus for Glou. House with Flour & Trading Goods. Adam Moad to stay at Glou. and the 4 last Named Persons to be left at Henley on their return. Our Shipwright drunk. 2 men with Mefs Favell & McNab Packing Goods for Henley House. Bricklay'r & one man repairing the Mens Oven. Arm'r repairing Indian Guns. Smith making Iron work for Glou. and Henley. Cooper repairing Casks pr Ditto. one Cook. one Cow keeper and one man Salting Geese. Rec'd about 180 to Day. One of Capt. Afsups Gang came in with a new Gun he had taken in Debt 5 Days ago burst. Sept. 19
" Thursday Wind NW Cold Weather. the People the People at home Employ'd in Salting the Geese & repairing the Upland Boat. Packing Goods for Henley and various other Dutys. Rec'd 340 Geese from the Natives who are much disheartened by the Mortality which still Continues among them. a fine Young Indian having died this Night which makes 3 since my Arrival and several more are taken Sick. Traded 15 Geese."

Sept. 20
" Friday Wind Var. from SW to SE with Rain in the morning. 3 men Brewing. the Others Employ'd as before. Rec'd 50 Geese from Indians."

Sept. 21
" Saturday Wind SE blows fresh hazy Wea. sometimes mizling Rain. the People employ'd as before. about Noon Mr McNab & two Indians proceeded for Henley House. at the same time two Indians set off in a Canoe in readinefs to Afsist Mr Kipling to Glou. who is Oblig'd to wait the return of the Sloop. Rec'd 170 Geese from Indians. gave the men Brandy."

" Monday Wind NbE with mizling Rain most of the Day. the Shipwright Carpenter & one man at work on the Upland Boat. 2 Picking Oakum pr Ditto. And'w Lena and one man rebuilding the mens Oven. Robt Lena and one man making Iron work pr Glou. Arm'r mending Guns. Ja Slater ill the Cooper & one man Salting Geese the others Variously Employ'd. Rec'd 162 Geese & 300 Tickomeg."

" Tuesday Wind Northerly mizling Rain all Day the People Employ'd as before. 72 Geese from Indians."

Sept. 25
" Wednesday Wind and Wea. as yesterday till 8 PM when SW the People Employ'd as yesterday. Traded 30 Geese from Indians."

Sept. 26
" Thursday Wind NE warm Wea. the Shipwright Carp. and 2 men at work on the Upland Boat the Arm'r mending Indians Guns and repairing the Damag'd Guns receiv'd from Henley. And. Lena and one man rebuilding the Mens Oven. the others stowing away & Clearing various Warehouses. about Noon a Vefsel appear'd in the Offing which we suppose to be Our Sloop which we have long waited for."

Sept. 27
" Friday Wind NW hazy Wea. with Rain People Employ'd as before. Rec'd about 250 Geese. in the Evening Tide Mr Horn arriv'd here. left All well at Moose. thinks the Ship Sail'd last Wednesday wishing Her a safe Pafsage. Entertain'd Geo. Gage the 21st Inst in the room of Arch. Linklater (Sailor)."

Sept. 28
" Saturday Wind SW blows fresh All hands Employ'd in unloading the Sloop which was many Articles short, among which was a Pipe of Brandy. Myself went to Bonds Creek and gave the Indians a Treat agreable to common Custom upon the Exchange of a Chief upon my return met David Saunderson & 2 men who return'd from the Glou. Journey with the disagreable news of his having staved a Battau and damag'd All the Cargo about half way to Henley but lost only part. he left 2 men to dry the Goods that were saved & the other proceeded in the other Battau to Glou. Engaged 3 Indians to Afsist Our Boat."

Sept. 29
" Sunday Wind Southerly warm Wea. for the time of Year. 17 men preparing for Henley some Indians came in with Geese. Engag'd Indians to take Goods to Glou. House in lieu of those Damag'd and with the Evening Tide Mr John Kipling, Matthew Truthwaite, David Saunderson and Peter Lisk set off with 4 Indians in one large and two small Canoes for Glou.House. Paid for Fish."

Sept. 30
" Monday Wind Serly warm Wea. 17 men preparing for Henley the others variously Employ'd Rec'd 80 Geese from Indians. Capt. Afsup came in."

Oct. 1 1782
" Tuesday Wind W Early this morning John Best (to stay) Tho. Clouston, John Linklater, John Cobb, Robt. Lena, George Gage, Wm Campbell, And. Bakin, Dan'l? Laughton, Wm Laughton, Magnus Irvin, Ja. Clouston, Wm Knarston & Tho. Moore with 3 Indians set off in two Boats with Trading Goods Stores and Provisions for Henley. the 4 last mention'd Englishmen and Jn Best to stay There. 3 men at Bonds Creek. two cleaning the Warehouse. 1 Cooking. two Old and infirm. one Salting Geese the others All Officers Capt. Afsup went away. Sent Presents by him to Old Indians Inland."

Oct. 2
" Wednesday Wind SW blew exceeding hard at Noon shifted WNW? with very Violent gusts or rather hurricanes of Wind which drove one of Our Henley Boats out to Sea and much damag'd All the rest, tore down Our Launch. drove the Sloop off, tore away Our Saw House and part of the Necefsary and the Leads off the NW Flanker and did much other Damage. the few Hands at home were unable to prevent it. An Indian who came in with Geese in the morning early, was Oblig'd to stay at the Fort. much Snow in the Evning. 168 Geese from the Indians."

Oct. 3
" Thursday Wind N blows fresh the few People at home Employ'd Salting Geese, mending Indians Guns &c. Rec'd 75 Geese from Indians."

Oct. 4
" Friday Wind Easterly the 3 men at home stowing away the Cargo left behind for Henley. I found They had by mistake left the Powder. Hired 2 Indians and sent Them away in a Canoe with 3 Rundlets of Gun Powder to Overtake Them. an Indian came in having with his Companion deserted the Boat. tho' Paid part to Afsist Them. in the Evning 2 Indians came in to take Debt and brot a Letter from Geo. Sutherland by which I find he has only 19 Casks of Geese Salted."

Oct. 5
" Saturday Wind NE with Rain & snow All Day. Self trusted the Indians of Yesterday. in the Night Our Sloop drove ashore. Mr Horn and the few men at home Employ'd in getting Her off which They happily Effected. gave the men Brandy. Traded 95 Geese."

Oct. 6
" Sunday Wind Werly sharp Wea. the Indians return'd from John Best requesting another Man and some Indian Shoes and acquainting me with the Shoalnefs of the Water. Mr Horn went in a Boat with Powder & Shot to Bonds Creek & to fetch a man to go up to Our Boats. some Indians came in with Geese. could not Perform Divine Service."

Oct. 7
" Monday Wind NW with sharp Wea. Our Boat return'd from Bonds Creek with 300 Geese. Sent James Slater with 2 Indians in a Canoe to Afsist up to Henley. Rec'd 270 Geese from Indians. Traded 30. the Arm'r repairing Indian Guns. And. Lena repairing Chimneys. Steward and Shipwright at the Goose Tent and Edw'd Clouston Salting Geese Cooking Attending upon Self and waiting upon Indians. NB Fish Plenty in the River and too weak handed to haul the Seine."

Oct. 8
" Tuesday Wind W fair Wea. Mr Horn & 2 men drying & unbending the Sloop's Sails & taking down her Yards. the others as before. 4 Northern Indians came in for Debt. 30 Geese from Indians. Traded 7."

Oct. 9
" Wednesday Wind S blows so hard the Indians of yesterday could not go away till Evning when I sent Presents to Cookenap by Them. Capt. Questach came in with the disagreable News of one of his Sons Wives having fell down & broke her Thigh. George Sutherland likewise came in, he has only got 22 Casks of Geese Salted at Bonds Marsh. Sent Magnus Kirknefs to Stay at the Tent."

Oct. 10
" Thurfday Wind Southerly Rainy Wea. 2 men in the Goose Shed Salting Geese &c. the Arm'r mending Indians Guns. the rest Variously Employ'd. Traded some Venison & 10 Rabbets. some of the Indians took Debt."

Oct. 11
" Friday Wind Nerly with mizling Rain. the People as yesterday. the Indians of yesterday are gone."

Oct. 12
" Saturday Wind Werly with Snow notwithstanding the severity of the Wea. Mr Goodwin very humanely went to visit the Woman mention'd on Wednesday. the Arm'r fully Employ'd on Indians Guns. Bricklayer repairing the Fire Place below stairs, the others salting Geese. Rec'd [blank] Geese from Indians."

Oct. 13
" Sunday Wind SW raw cold Wea. 2 Families of Indians came in from Hunting and took their Debts. several likewise came in from the Northward & Southward so could not Perform Divine Service. Rec'd 86 Geese and Traded 70. Mr Goodwin return'd with an Account of the Geese being nearly gone and the Young Woman having broke the Patella."

Oct. 14
" Monday Wind WSW Wea. as yesterday. 3 men Employ'd on board the Sloop. the Arm'r at Gun work. the others variously Employ'd. Rec'd 2 large Seals. Rec'd 80 Geese."

Oct. 15
" Tuesday Werly Wind Wea. as yesterday. 2 men salting Provisions. the rest partly as before. an Indian & Family came in for Debt. 2 men return'd from Henley & brot the disagreable News that it is impracticable for a Battau to go to Glou. House this Fall on Account of the Shoalnefs of the Water & the Season being so far advanced which will greatly retard the Businefs in the Spring. Lieu. Earchkeeshick & Family took Debt & are gone."

Oct. 16
" Wednesday Wind NbW Wea. Cloudy & Clear frequent Showers of Snow at times and a hard frost in the Afternoon. 6 men in the Sloop with Mr Horn laying Her in the Fishing Creek for the Winter. the other two men attending upon me, Cooking, & doing other necefsary Jobbs."

Oct. 17
" Thursday Wind Northerly Wea. cold and Cloudy with a hard frost. People taking up Garden Stuff and doing other necefsary Jobbs. 2 Indians came in from the Nwd for Medicines by whom I am informed from George Sutherland that the Geese are almost All gone."

Oct. 18
" Friday Wind Serly Weather cold. froze hard in the Shade all Day. Mr Horn & 6 men at work drying the Sails and hauling the Seeine with small Succefs, the ground being foul with Weeds, otherwise perhaps might have had plenty. The Arm'r repairing Indian Guns. the other man variously Employ'd as Yesterday. 4 Indians took Debt to Day & are gone to their Winter Quarters. several others are coming soon from Hunting. several Indians came in but brought nothing. and inform us the Geese are almost all gone."

Oct. 19
" Saturday Wind SE Wea. cold and Snowy. the People variously Employ'd. several Indians came in and took Debt. Rec'd a few Geese. a little Ice along shore."

Oct. 20
" Sunday Wind W Wea. fine & clear. one Family of Indians came in for Debt. others came in in a pitiable Condition, one with an inflamation in his Bowels & another suppos'd to have fractur'd the Fibula. being busy with the Natives had no Public Service. the Captain of the Goose Hunters came in with part of his Family and inform'd that the Geese are all gone. Traded some Geese."

Oct. 21
" Monday Wind Nerly Wea. as yesterday. Mr Horn 5 Englishmen and 5 Indians went in the large Henley Boat to fetch Geese from Bonds Creek. sent Salt & empty Casks ready for the Spring Hunt. One at the Gates, the others attending occasionally in the Warehouse. several Indians came in from the Northward for Debt. Traded some Geese. part of the Hunters are gone to their Winter Quarters."

Oct. 22
" Tuesday Wind Werly Wea. moderate with Snow sleet and Rain. one man keeping the Gates. the other two variously Employ'd . in the Afternoon Mr Horn Arriv'd from Bonds Creek with 16 Casks of Geese & several Feather Bags. the Indians of yesterday are gone. Traded a Seal. Jenkin Daniel return'd from Henley (an Indian with him) & brot the disagreable News of Mr Kiplings returning back to Henley, not being able to proceed on his Journey to Glouster for the Quantity of Ice in the River."

Oct. 23
" Wednesday Wind NW Wea. very sharp plenty of Snow Mr Horn & 4 men went to the Sloop to fetch the Sails home. one at the Gates. the rest unloading the Boat of yesterday. 3 Familys of Indians took Debt. Traded a few Geese."

Oct. 24
" Thursday Wind SW froze exceeding hard. much Ice in the River. the men Employ'd in getting up the Boats. the Indians of yesterday went away. an Indian came in & brot a few Geese."

Oct. 25
" Friday Wind Werly Weather very cold with Snow at times. several parts of the River is set fast. the men Employ'd taking up the Launch and preparing for the sudden appearance of the Ice."

Oct. 26
" Saturday Wind NW Wea. more moderate lefs Ice than Yesterday. the men variously Employ'd sent David Saunderson to the head of the Island to see the state of the River. He return'd with the agreable account of little Ice in the River."

Oct. 27
" Sunday Wind SW Wea. clear and very Cold the River full of Ice. Perform'd Divine Service. in the Afternoon the 2 Boats Arriv'd from Henley with the following Persons Jn Hodgson, Tho Arrowsmith, Wm Campbel, George Gage, Wm Laughton, Dan'l Laughton, Tho. Moore, David Robertson, Magnus Backie, And. Backie, Ja Duncan, Tho Clouston, Wm Rich, Wm Spence, Ja Cromartie, Ja Clouston, Robt Lena, Ja Slater, Jn Linklater & 2 Indians left all well at Henley. gave the men Brandy."

Smith making Trapping Hatchets. the Arm'r at Gun work. the rest preparing to go out Tenting. in the Afternoon 5 homeguard Indians came in for Medicines & to Trade a few Martins for Necefsaries."

Nov. 1 1782
" Friday Wind Serly fine clear sharp Weather. 2 men Brewing Cook & Cowkeeper as usual. Taylor at his work for the Hunters. Arm'r very bad. 1 making Nets. the rest carrying up Firewood. some Indians came in for necefsaries and Medicines, their Families being sick, w'ch gives us poor prospect of a Marten Hunt. Sent one man to the head of the Island to see the state of the River. found it not yet fast which still keeps some of Our Deer Hunters on the Plantation besides which have got 22 Indians Young and old on the Plantation to Feed, besides Widows Orphans & distrefs'd Children."

Lena making Hatchets, the Cooper & two men preparing Sleds for the Hunters. the Cook and Cowkeeper as usual. some Indians came in for Medicines for the Old Captains Son, ? will be Oblig'd to be sent to the Fort tomorrow. Cloath'd 3 poor Orphans would otherwise inevitably Perish from the inclemency of the Weather."

Nov. 5
"Tuesday Wind SE blows fresh with much Snow. the People Employ'd as before till the Evning when we Celebrated the Day. Gave the men Brandy to drink Prosperity to Church and State. Captain Questach brought in his oldest Son who is exceedingly ill, which makes it very Burthensome having so many to feed and the Hunt so short."

Nov. 6
" Wednesday Wind NW much Snow & moderate Wea. Yesterday several Indians came in from the Northward begging Flour for several of their Families which are sick. They All went away to Day (Excepting the sick Family which is in Number 5) 2 men Brewing. the rest of the People as before."

Nov. 7
" Thurfday Wind WNW fine clear moderate Wea. 2 men after the Cattle getting Them home which They Effected. the men Employ'd as before. Sent three men to Canoes River to Hunt and Snare."

Nov. 8
" Friday Wind Var. clear mod. Wea. 3 men killing Beasts, one old and 3 Young Cows. the others as Yesterday."

Nov. 9
" Saturday Wind SSW fine clear Wea. the People Employ'd opening the Waterhole, killing a Beast, Cutting Firewood & doing other various Jobbs. David Saunderson came home with only a few Fish & am inform'd that the Captain and Family being close to his Tent, with Self and two Sons sick, besides a Young Wife with a dislocated Knee."

Shipwright preparing for Battaus. the Arm'r sick. 2 men making Sleds. the Smith as yesterday. the others getting Wood up the Bank and then X Cutting Firewood. some Indians came in wth Snow Shoe Frames."

Nov. 13
" Wednesday Wind SW sharp Wea. Jn Hodgson & 3 men in the Warehouse taking Stock. 2 men Packing Feathers. Linkliter grinding his Tools. Ja Slater and Ja Clouston repairing 8 Gall. Rundlets. Taylor at work for the Surgeon Wm Spence making Nets for freshning Provisions. Cooks & Cowkeeper as usual. The Shipwright preparing Timbers for Battaus. the others grinding Oatmeal X Cutting & Splitting Firewood and doing other necefsary Dutys."

Nov. 14
" Thursday Wind W sharp cold Wea. the Tradesmen & People in the Warehouse Employ'd as Yesterday. the others tying Quills in the morning in the Afternoon sent 14 men with the great Sled to haul home Timbers for Battaus. Traded 3 Pairs of Snow Shoes."

Nov. 15
" Friday Wind and Wea. as Yesterday the men Employ'd making their own Caps &c, owing to the Taylor not being able to work fast enough for Them. 2 Old Women came and brot 8 Rabbets and a few Martins."

Nov. 16
" Saturday Wind Werly mod. Wea. Sent All hands to attempt to get home the Boat out of the Marsh but was impracticable. afterwards Employ'd in making a Waterhole X Cutting Firewood besides other necefsary Jobbs. the Tenters came home from Canoes Rivers and Yarrows Creek brot 13 Pheasants & a few fish."

" Monday Wind Werly Wea. fine & warm. 3 men Brewing 3 at work in the Warehouse. 4 in the Surgeon List. the Taylor at work pr Men. 6 Hunting & Tenting. sent the remainder to get the Pieces of the Launch home that was drove adrift from the gale of Wind last Month. Cooks & Cowkeeper as usual. an Indian Family came in with 10 Beaver in Martins & some Provisions also 200 Rabbets."

Nov. 19
" Tuesday Wind Werly fine Wea. with Snow. 10 men in the Sled hauling home Firewood from the Old Factory, having very little to Burn on the Plantation. 4 Pheasants from Our Hunters who found a Calf in the Marsh very Opportunaly or else it would have Perish'd for want of Sustenance. the rest Employ'd as yesterday."

" Wednesday Wind Nerly warm Wea. the People Employ'd as Yesterday. 2 Indians men took Debt & went away leaving a Sick Wife & 3 Children to be provided for. 2 white Partridge to Day."

Nov. 22

Nov. 23
" Saturday Wind Serly blows fresh the Tradesmen Employ'd as before. the others variously Employ'd in Opening the Watering and Victualling holes, grinding Oatmeal and on various other Dutys. Our men came home from their Tents with 60 Partridges, 20 Rabbets, 130 Fish, and 10 Martins, 26 Pheasants likewise from our home hunters. an Indian Woman came in for some Medicines for her Husband who has cut his leg so badly as to be unable to hunt for his Family. sent some Provisions to him. an Indian came with 115 lb Fish and some Trout."

" Sunday Wind Var. with heavy Snow Perform'd Divine Service the Indians Wife of yesterday that came for Afsistance went away."

Nov. 25
" Monday Wind Werly very sharp Wea. the 6 hunters return'd to their Tents. the Shipwright preparing Timbers for Battaus. the Arm'r lay'd up with the Rheumatisum. Carp. making a Door for Jn Hodgson's Room. 2 men killed 4 Pigs, 2 men Boiling Blubber. the Taylor at work pr Men. the 2 Coopers repairing Rundlets. 2 men Brewing. 3 in the Doctors List. 2 Hunting. Cook & Cowkeeper as usual. the others X Cutting Firewood. 2 Foxes and 2 Pheasants to Day."

" Tuesday Wind Werly Clear mod. Wea. the two men that were Brewing making Candles & those who were killing Pigs Yesterday Cutting Firewood to Day. 3 Hunting no luck. the invalids tying Quills. the others as before. a poor Indian Girl who had long labour'd under a Plethisis Pulmonalis departed this Life early in the morning."

Our four deer hunters that went away the 7th Inst. returned having killed several deer, a great part of which they with much difficulty brought to us. Captain Questach & family came loaded with Venison but brought very few furrs only 39 1/3 MBeaver among all his Sons & self, which he excuses by the grief the recent death of his eldest Son & accidental lamenefs of his Second has given him. We now thank god live in plenty and I am much easier in my mind concerning the Scurvy as we are now enabled to supply our men continually with fresh meat."

" Wednesday Wind SSE Sent 14 men to the Woods to collect firewood the rest as before. Mr John Hodgson and the six men Arrived from Severn hauled the Seine and got a few fish."

Taylors at work pr European Packeturs the Rest preparing for the Goose Tent and about domestick dutys. Capt. Afsup, Shewausum, Amoe and young men came in for debt. the Sloop arrived from Moose."

Sept. 16
" Tuesday Wind Nly about 9 AM the Sloop appeared in the offing and in the Evening Received a Packet upon which held a Council and the officers are unanimous in reccommending me to take a Voyage to Moose as Necefsary to the Companys Service."

Sept. 17
" Wednesday Wind Wly Cloudy Weather. the people employed as yesterday in the Evening Mr Edward Jarvis Mr Goodwin & Mr Maugenest went down to the Sloop to proceed to Moose. Trusted Capt Afsup Shewausum & Amoe. Received a few Geese from Indians."

Sept. 18
" Thursday Wind Wly cloudy Weather Sent 9 men with Powder, Shot &c to the Goose Tent 3 of which are to stay there the Carpenters putting up Cabbins. Smith and Armourer mending and Stocking Guns. 2 Brewing the rest as usual. Capt. Afsup Shewawsum, & Gangs went away. Rec'd 32 Geese from Indians."

Sept. 19
" Friday Wind SW Cloudy Weather blows fresh the Boat returned from the Goose Tent. the men at home variously employed. Rec'd a few Geese & Plover from Indians."

Sept. 20
" Saturday Cloudy Weather Wind SW in the Morng afterwards changed to North blowing fresh. 4 men Packing Goods for Gloucester. Cooper and 1 man Preparing 8 Gall. Rundlets pr ditto. 1 man sick. the Wooders came home in the Evening the rest of the men variously employed. Mr Kipling examining a Gun, not knowing she was load, accidently went off and wounded his face and Eyes. in the Afternoon was agreeably surprised by the arrival of 2 Ind. from Moose with a Letter informing us from the Reports of several Guns in their offing that a Ship was arrived which we doubt not from the Similarity of Signal that it is the Companys Ship."

Sept. 21
" Sunday Wind North Cloudy Weather a Very heavy Gale last night and all this day Performed divine Service. In the afternoon sent 20 men to Yarrows Creek to bring home the Wood to morrow."

" Tuesday Monday Wind variable cloudy weather Early this morning the Men sent yesterday returned with the rafts of Wood as far as Gully, where they got aground and still remain. Carpenters putting up Cabbins in the Mens houe. Armourer Stocking Guns. Smiths mending Indians Guns. Shipwright & Tho Calley working at the Battaux 3 men packing Goods for Gloucester Cooks & Cowkeeper as usual rec'd Letters from Europe by the arrival of the 2 Englishmen sent some time ago to Moose."

Sept. 23
" Tuesday Wind SW fine Clear weather the Men Employ'd gitting of the rafts of Wood which they effected at flood tide and brought them below the factory the men at home employ'd putting the Load? on the NW flanker and doing other necefsary Work arrived 2 Canoes of Indians from Gloucester viz. Capt. Nowachekeshickwel? and Lieut. Wausakylick? by whom we learn that Gloucester is still Standing in the same state it was left in."

Sept. 24
" Wednesday Wind variable Clear weather 23 Men Carrying up Wood. Carpenters putting up part of the Launch 4 Men clearing out the Lime Kilmn. 2 men packing for Gloucester. Shipwright and Tho. Cattey as before. Smiths Armourer Cooks & Cowkeeper as yesterday. Trusted the Gloucester Indians & they went away in the Evening sent 4 Rundlet & 8 Guns part of Gloucester Cargo with them. in conversing with them they inform us that Great numbers of Indians have been down to Gloucester & some as far as Henly but returnd up the Country again with all their Goods."

" Friday Wind SW Clear weather people Cutting wood for the ship repairing the lime kilmn and laying the Platforms for unloading the Sloop about 7 Spy'd a vesel in the offing which from her signals is the beaver sloop. At 2 pm She arriv'd when Mr E Jarvis Goodwin Maugenest & pafsengers Came on Shore viz. T Phillips, James Lena, James Gaddie Blacksmiths, Magnus Wilson Bricklayer, Will Cooper Armourer, George Dickson Chiefs Sevt., Will Manson, Tho Halecrow, James Sinclair, Will Fobister, Hugh Sinclair, Alex Thomson, Robt Randall, Peter Birston, James Moor. Nichol Spence, Alex Craigie Labourers, Tho Mathias Shipwright Unloaded part of the Sloops Cargo. James Hudson writer."
